In 2013, after decades in business, Ioanna Damianaki’s liquid-fuel distribution company was struggling through the Greek economic crisis. Profits were down due to a decrease in fuel consumption and, looking for something different to ensure her children’s future, her gaze fell on an olive tree.
She realized this tree could offer a traditional Greek treasure: olive oil.
Damianaki remembered an olive tree from her childhood village in Macedonia which had provided shade for the dreamy moments of her youth. More recently, olive oil appealed to her love for the earth and for perfection.
